TENEMENT HOUSE AT KOŚCIUSZKI STREET / Katowice

The renovated building is a 19th-century tenement house at 33 Kościuszki Street in Katowice. The project aimed to recreate the original appearance of the historic building, enhance the richly decorated façade, and restore its residential function as modern and spacious student apartments of a high standard.

The steel display windows on the ground floor were replaced with new window frames, with the same divisions found on the upper floors, while the entrance to the commercial space was located – in keeping with the original layout – at the corner of the building. Above the ground floor, work focused on the reconstruction of the balconies, ornate window frames, and cornices.

The brick sections of the façade were thoroughly cleaned of numerous layers of old paint. Any remaining damage was also repaired, and finally, the entire walls were waterproofed.
